Cheese Tour FAQ's
What is included in the Cheese Tour?
The Cheese Tour includes a welcome talk, visit to the Dairy Viewing Room to learn about cheesemaking, a cheese tasting, a visit to the Cheese Store or ‘Cheese Cathedral’ as we like to call it, a visit to the Milking Parlour and if we are lucky, see some of the Quicke’s Cows. A visit to the Cheese Shop and lunch at the Beer Engine pub concludes the tour. You also get a Quicke's Tote bag and free wedge of cheese to take home.
Will I see cheese being made on the Cheese Tour?
Due to scheduling there may be tours where we are unable to show you cheesemaking, however you will be able to see a short film on the cheesemaking process and a detailed talk with Holly or one of our Cheesemakers.
Is the lunch included in the price of the Cheese Tour?
Yes. A two-course lunch at the Beer Engine is included in the price of the tour.
How long is the Cheese Tour?
The Cheese Tour is 2 hours long and runs from 10am to 12pm. The lunch is from 12.30pm, so there is time to go shopping at the Cheese Shop before travelling to the Beer Engine.
What days do Cheese Tours take place?
The Cheese Tours are on a selection of Fridays.
We have the ability to put on Private Cheese Tours for groups of over 10 adults with a maximum of 20 adults on Wednesdays, but this does not include lunch. Please get in touch with Holly at events@quickes.co.uk to discuss your needs as we can tailor them to your requirements.
Is there lots of walking on the Cheese Tour?
The Cheese tour is a walking tour of the Farm, Cheese stores and Dairy Viewing Room. The route is likely to be muddy and uneven, so please wear appropriate footwear such as trainers or walking boots. We don’t walk too far but you will be on your feet for most of the Cheese Tour. Unfortunately, the route is not suitable for wheelchair users.
Can children attend the Cheese Tour?
Children over the age of 12 are welcome (with tickets), but please bear in mind that they need to be able to complete the tour.
Can I bring a dog?
Unfortunately, dogs are not invited on the tour.
Is the Cheese Tour suitable for Vegetarians or Vegans?
Our Cheddars are not suitable for vegetarians, as they are made using animal rennet and lard. If requested in advance of the tour, we can supply cheese suitable for vegetarians for tastings (Devonshire Red, Double Devonshire, Elderflower or Goat’s Milk) and arrange a vegetarian lunch. We do not make cheese which is suitable for vegans.
Please let us know of any dietary requirements any individuals may have in advance of the tour.
Can I purchase a Cheese Tour Voucher?
Yes absolutely you can purchase a Cheese Tour Voucher here, the code will then be sent automatically to you or your gift recipient.
Are Cheese Tour Gift Vouchers the same as tickets?
Please note this only applies to vouchers purchased before September 2024
Cheese Tour Gift Vouchers are not tickets. Cheese Tour Vouchers do not automatically book a place on a Tour. Tour Vouchers can be redeemed via our website. Once you've bought your voucher, we will email you the individual voucher code. Simply give this to your recipient and they can choose the date that suits them best (subject to availability).
How long is a Cheese Tour Gift Voucher valid for?
Cheese Tour Gift Vouchers are valid for one year from the date of purchase.
I have a Cheese Tour Gift Voucher, does this mean I can attend any tour?
You can use the individual voucher code to book tickets on any Cheese Tour (subject to availability), as long as your voucher is still valid at the time of booking.
All the Cheese Tours are booked up this year, can I use my Cheese Tour Gift Voucher to book a tour next year?
Cheese Tour Gift Vouchers are valid for one year from the date of purchase. If your voucher is still valid at the time of booking a ticket, then yes you can book onto a tour next year.
When will the tickets for 2025 be available?
The Cheese Tour dates for 2025 will be announced in October 2024 and the tickets released thereafter.
Do you do Private Cheese Tours?
We have the ability to put on private tours for groups of over 10 adults with a maximum of 20 adults. The ideal number is 12, as everyone can see everything at the same time. Please get in touch with Holly at events@quickes.co.uk to discuss your needs as we can tailor them to your requirements. Please note private tours only operate on Wednesday & Friday during the months of April to September (subject to availability).
I am unable to attend the Cheese Tour, can I get a refund?
We do not provide refunds once you have completed a booking. All bookings are final.
I have booked tickets but can’t make that date, can I change to a different Cheese Tour?
Transferring to a different tour date/new additional tour date can only be made up to 14 days before your original tour date booked and can only be done once. Transferring to a new tour date can only done provided there is space on the new tour you wish to attend. The tour you transfer to must be in the same calendar year. We reserve the right to cancel a tour and should we do you will receive a full refund.
